To commemorate World Glaucoma Week 2026, the KNUST Chapter of iCare Network International organized an eye health education outreach at Ayigya M/A Primary and Junior High School in Kumasi on March 12. The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness about glaucoma and the importance of early detection in preventing vision loss.

During the session, members of the iCare Network team engaged students in a lively discussion about eye health and the dangers of glaucoma, a condition often called the “silent thief of sight” because it can cause vision loss without noticeable symptoms in its early stages. Students learned simple ways to protect their eyesight, the value of regular eye examinations, and how awareness can help families seek care early.

The outreach also encouraged students to become ambassadors of eye health by sharing what they learned with their parents, guardians, and communities. By empowering young people with knowledge, the initiative aimed to extend the impact of glaucoma awareness beyond the classroom.

This activity reflects iCare Network International’s commitment to promoting preventive health education and improving access to eye care in underserved communities across Ghana
