Dr. Samson Darrah, Founder and Executive Director of iCare Network International, has been inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO), one of the highest professional distinctions in the field of optometry and vision science.

The Fellowship of the American Academy of Optometry recognizes optometrists and vision scientists who have demonstrated advanced knowledge, commitment to the profession, and dedication to improving eye care through clinical excellence, research, education, and service. Achieving Fellowship requires a rigorous process that includes scholarly contributions, professional development, and evaluation by peers within the Academy.

Dr. Darrah is a PhD student in Bioengineering at the University of Washington in Seattle, where his research focuses on developing and applying advanced ophthalmic imaging technologies to better understand retinal diseases and improve early diagnosis and treatment. His work integrates cutting-edge imaging modalities with genetics to study inherited retinal conditions and other vision-threatening diseases.

Beyond his academic and research work, Dr. Darrah is widely recognized for his leadership in community health through iCare Network International, a nonprofit organization he founded to improve access to medical care and social support in underserved communities. Through the organization, hundreds of volunteers including students and healthcare professionals have delivered outreach programs providing eye screenings, health education, mentorship, and essential medical support to communities across Ghana.

Under his leadership, iCare Network International has impacted thousands of individuals through community health outreach initiatives, educational programs, and youth mentorship activities aimed at empowering the next generation of healthcare leaders.
